Who I paint

Capturing the person

Specialising in portraiture, when I paint a portrait I aim to capture a precious moment in time creating a legacy for future generations. I paint traditional oil portraits on linen canvas and/or charcoal drawings on paper.

Anyone from anywhere

Whatever the background or walk of life I endeavour to capture the essence of the person. I take the time to get to know the subject so that their personality comes through in the painting.  I will enjoy painting you, and will make sure that being painted is an enjoyable process for you.

Military Art

I spent nearly twenty years in various Officers’ Messes, and now concentrate much of my time on creating military art. Paintings depicting battle honours, high ranking officers or some killed in action. These paintings are seen by people over the many, many years. This portraiture embodies someone for generations and is very important to me.

The Bereaved

My experience of losing friends and colleagues, and having created paintings for their families, has given me an appreciation of the great joy that a painting of a loved one can bring to those left behind. Working with photographs and talking the families it is possible to capture the essence of the person.
