The Crossroad

£45

My eighth completed painting shows a soldier searching for an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with another soldier in over watch. IEDs are prevalent in Helmand Province, Afghanistan and soldiers identified possible IEDs on a daily basis. A soldier will confirm an IED by lying down and using a paintbrush and prodding stick to establish if one is present.

A soldier’s life is determined by what happens during these tense moments. He may live or be seriously injured or killed by an IED. I want to show this as a junction between life or death and this is reflected in the light and dark contrasts in the painting.

Sizes: A5, A4, A3, A2 and A1.

Fine art giclee prints.
