Lines of Departure

This image shows B Company 2 Mercian crossing the Nad-E-Ali canal, Afghanistan, on the 4th July 2009. The canal was the military Line of Departure, which is a line on a map delineating the crossing from friendly to enemy force territory. Several hours after this crossing three soldiers had been killed and several others seriously injured; including myself from a severe traumatic brain injury. I use the plural ‘Lines’ to suggest a departure on many levels: militarily, physically, spiritually, psychologically and heavenly.
